The Business Case is a central element in the Leader Academy Program. It provides us with our WHY, the reason for participating in the first place. As a coaching tool, it helps to create strong intrinsic motivation, which is a powerful driver that fuels courage, humility and discipline. We will use our business case throughout the course and refer back to it a few times!

Your Next Step: Download the template and fill out at least 15 (!) elements on either side. Then send the filled out document to your program mentor coach ahead of the our agreement meeting in lesson 1.4.

Lesson 1.2 Content

1. What is your Business Case for Change?

When you decide to become a Leader Coach, you have a certain vision in mind of what it allows you to do in the future or even what you anticipate it allows you to become.

In this lesson, we help you pre-think your own business case for becoming a Leader Coach.

We help you think through the positive effects of this learning journey on your own person, your family, your team, your peers and even your Leaders and Organisations.

Doing this is coaching in practice, as we jointly create a concrete positive vision for the future.

This lessons is an important, foundational exercise to help you envision your future as a Leader who coaches well and uses coaching skills in all areas of your life and work. The business case you pre-think here will be part of our conversation in session 1-4, where we talk through your case and make an agreement to make it happen.

2. When does change and growth occur?

• There is a burning platform and a crisis
• There are significant benefits that can be enjoyed after the change has taken place.

We want to help you envision how the ability to coach professionally will impact your work and beyond.

As a Leader, you are used to justifying new ideas or behaviours. This includes evaluating the benefits, costs and investments. Simply put, it’s a business case. Before we even start in the Leader Coach Program, let us craft and document your very own business case.

3. How does this work? 

As part of this exercise, you can use the template below to work on two lists to outline the benefits that you hope to get from attending the IntelliCoach Leader Academy Program.

List 1: What are the benefits to yourself?

Yes, this is all about you and no one else. Take a moment to ponder what you hope to gain personally from this effort?

List 2: What are the benefits to the people around you?

This list is all about creating a clear view and idea about the impact you hope OTHERS to get from your growth as a Leader in this skill area.

IMPORTANT

Your goal is to write down at least 15 (!) benefits for yourself on both lists. Take as much time as you need to achieve that. This is an essential element of this exercise. We recommend that you do not write all benefits in just one sitting, but that you spread this over a few days.

1. Download the Agreement Document via the button above.
2. Annotate the PDF or print+sign+scan the document. (Or create your own file; whatever works best for you!)
3. Upload the file to your ‘My Files’ area or or send it directly to your Mentor Coach via email.

Both lists should feel comprehensive. One essential element of the first module in this program (Module 1 – Become Prepared) is that you will meet your Mentor Coach / Program facilitator in person for 30 minutes as part of Lesson 1.4 Our Agreement. You will talk about your business case, as it will form an essential pillar for your own motivation.

Please also prepare to coach and be coached on your own business case by a peer in session Lesson 1.6 The Journey is about to begin.
